Get involved in '09!

Alexandria Republicans have already accomplished much in 2009 -- nearly capturing a legislative seat in January, and then winning two City Council seats in May

This fall, we'll be voting for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, state legislators and two city constitutional offices. The general election will be Tuesday, November 3.

Republican nominees for the three statewide offices were selected at the Virginia GOP Convention on May 30. (Two of the races were contested, and many Alexandria Republicans participated as delegates. See more on this year's Convention process.) Our nominees for legislative offices were selected in the spring.

We invite you to get involved with the '09 campaigns here in Alexandria! Several things you can do today:

• Volunteer: Contact the state and local campaigns (see web links). And sign up with the City GOP to help all of our candidates in the '09 elections.
• Stay informed: Follow the news about statewide campaigns and local campaigns.
• Vote: Be sure to vote in the General Election (Nov. 3).

For Governor of Virginia

Former Atty. Gen. Bob McDonnell is the GOP nominee for Governor in 2009.

Bob is a native of Northern Virginia (Fairfax County). He served in the House of Delegates from Virginia Beach for 10 years. He was elected Attorney General in 2005, and served until stepping down in Feb. 2009 for the Governor's race. He has broad support throughout the Commonwealth, and we look forward to supporting his campaign in Alexandria.

For Lt. Governor Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling of Hanover County is running for re-election in 2009, after winning the nomination at the State Convention. Bill served as state senator from central Virginia. He was elected Lieutenant Governor in 2005, and has been a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility. Bolling campaign: www.BillBolling.com

For Attorney General State Sen. Ken Cuccinelli of Fairfax County is the Republibcan candidate for Attorney General in 2009, after winning a three-way contest for the GOP nomination. Ken is an attorney in private practice. He won a special election to the State Senate in 2002, and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007. Cuccinelli campaign: www.Cuccinelli.com

Alexandria voters will elect three members of the House of Delegates in November 2009:

• 45th District (Much of eastern and central Alexandria, plus parts of Arlington and Fairfax Co.)
